Updated Website

Just a quick note about my updated website. I had been struggling with how best to present my photography services to the outside world, or to those who wanted more information about prices and what not. Well, this is what I came up with...

Simple, clean, and to the point. Now to find someone to help wordsmith my content a little. Still on the to-do list; re-work my smugmug.com site.

Two-Tone?

My post processing is, for the most part, true to the original photograph. A little pop here and there and I call it a day. I don't usually venture too far in that regard. But change is good, and sometimes you just need to take a leap off the high dive.

While it's certainly not new, it is to me. I stumbled upon this style accidentally when doing some of my more typical post-processing a while ago. And every once in a while, I like to revisit it. It doesn't work for all images, but for the ones it does it certainly gives it a different feel.

I do find it a bit ironic though, in that I'm taking an image created using very expensive photography equipment, and turning the result into something that easily could have been created using a simple point and shoot camera.

Oh well, what do you think?

An Autumn Sunday - Family Candids

If you asked me how my Sunday was last weekend, I'd respond with "it was great!" I didn't waste it away watching the Seahawks get slaughtered, or spending the day inside avoiding the beautiful autumn weather we were blessed with. I spent it roaming Seattle with camera in hand while I stalked (I mean photographed) my friend's family just out and about in Seattle.

We roamed about the Pike Place Market area, then stopped by a park to play in the autumn leaves. The kids weren't digging the city part too much, but the smiles came out at the park. Good times!

I really enjoy the candid nature of these relaxed and fun portraits in a dynamic environment. Every family should have photos like this. Holler my way when you are ready for your's ;)

These are just a few photos from the many!

An 'easy' hike - Emmons Morraine

Ever since my hike back in the summer of 2008, I've wanted to find my way into the valley pictured on that blog entry. Well, one year later, I can finally check that off my to-do list.

I recruited a few friends to join me on this nice leisurely stroll in the Emmons Morraine, September 2009. Well, I imagine it was a nice leisurely stroll before the floods in November 2006 took care of the river crossing and a good chunk of the trail (which we never really used).

After a short stroll up the Glacier Basin Trail, we found a way to cross the river and head into the Emmons Morraine. Overall, we hiked about 5 miles, but I'll tell you, that was the longest 5 miles ever! But (for me anyways), it was one of the most enjoyable hikes I've done. Something about bush-whacking your way to the face of the largest glacier in the lower 48 states is exciting. Tough work for sure, but in my opinion, it was worth it!

A few other photos from the hike are available here.

So, who's up for another hike? lol.

Filling in the gaps...

Seeing as how my last update was over 100 days ago, I figure it's time to throw something out there. It hasn't been due to a lack of activity. On the contrary, I've been busier than ever with work, hobby, and social life. If only I could somehow cut work out and still have money.

You'll have to excuse the scatter-brained approach to this blog entry, I'm just trying to catch up with all that I've missed. Hopefully, I'll update my blog on a more regular basis from here on out.

So, what's happened in the past 100+ days? My birthday for one! But also a ton of other birthday celebrations, including one tonight! Happy Birthday Trang!

Thankfully, I got suckered into being a Wedding Photographer. It started out as doing portraits, but then turned into doing photos at their small wedding, which gradually got bigger and bigger than planned. Still a small intimate affair, and it gave me the push I needed to jump into that realm of photography. So thank you, and congratulations Bick and Wilson!

On the topic of photography, I've been kept busy by the lovely ladies in the Miss VN WA organization. The biggest event being the Torchlight Parade. Not only did I (reluctantly at first) get to walk in the parade snapping photos, but I also made a good friend or two out of the deal too :)

I seem to have made it an annual thing going to see the Blue Angels at Seafair. Great weather, taking a day off work, loud fighter jets... what's not to love? Well, it'd be cool to see an F-22 demo... still on my to-do list.

Speaking of nice weather, I found some time to enjoy the summer as well, via some hiking, cycling, and just hanging out.

In a nutshell, that pretty much rounds out the 100+ day gap since my last blog entry. If you've been a facebook friend over that time, you've certainly seen more detail :)

Until next time...
