Back to my roots, ever so briefly

I apologize in advance for the self reflection, I just got to thinking about why I do what I do, and how it's changed over the past year or so; with regards to photography. All this just because I was trying to come up with something to write about my weekend.

Anyways, in the past I used to almost always have my trusty digital SLR and a lens or two when I went and did stuff... meetups, friend's events, stuff like that. As I was trying to put some words down about my Saturday, I realized that the two events (friend's graduation, and another friend's musical performance) I went to and didn't photograph, are things I probably would have photographed in the past. Perhaps it's due to the slightly overwhelming backlog of photos I have to post process. Which got me to thinking... I really need to stay on top of my post processing. That covers my Saturday.

Sunday consisted of a 20 mile bicycle ride with a little praying that it wouldn't rain during the ride. It did rain a little bit, but nothing too crazy. Afterwards, my bicycling partner in crime wanted to do some flower/garden photography; and invited me (and my lenses, lol) along. Volunteer Park in Capitol Hill became our destination, and the plants/flowers in the Conservatory became our subject. After they kicked us out (closed for the day), we continued snapping away outside. Thinking back, I remember how peaceful it was; just laying in the grass and watching the flowers dance in the wind, through my lens. I need more of that...

A Moving Picture (flowers in the wind)
